We are proud to be on the elite list of Steamworks partners with our anti-cheat technology.
What does it mean to be a partner with Steamworks?
Here’s an excerpt from Steam’s Knowledge Base on the “Game Bans” feature of Valve Anti-Cheat:
“Valve allows developers to implement their own systems that detect and permanently ban any disruptive players, such as those using cheats. Game developers inform Valve when a disruptive player has been detected in their game, and Valve applies the game ban to the account. The game developer is solely responsible for the decision to apply a game ban. Valve only enforces the game ban as instructed by the game developer.”
You can find the complete document here. It includes answers to other questions you might have, like “Does this mean developers can take my games away from me?“. I recommend you check it out!
By offering our anti-cheat technology through Steamworks, game developers can select Denuvo Anti-Cheat as a trusted partner to submit game ban requests on their behalf.
Why would a developer select an anti-cheat partner in Steamworks?
Long-duration game bans are publicly visible and discourage players from cheating in fear of defaming their accounts.
Example of game ban on Steamworks profile page
Because developers are responsible for all game bans they issue, the ban’s accuracy must be indisputable. By selecting Denuvo as an anti-cheat partner, the risks and burdens of false-positive-free bans are handled for you.
Denuvo reviews the cheat evidence archive and completes the required submission data on the developer’s behalf. This process prevents improper Game Bans, such as when cheat evidence is insufficient.
How do I select Denuvo as my anti-cheat partner?
If you haven’t already, you’ll first need to Contact Us to setup your Denuvo Anti-Cheat project. Then, via Steamworks, navigate to the Anti-Cheat Security section of your steam application, select Denuvo Anti-Cheat as your partner.
What happens once I have chosen Denuvo Anti-Cheat as a partner?
The Denuvo Anti-Cheat web app provides a front-end to manage Valve Anti-Cheat Game Bans, which were previously accessible via Steamworks APIs. It enables you to submit Game Ban requests, search for banned players and review existing bans and appeals.
Enabling the Steamworks integration populates player profiles with their Game Ban status, enables Valve Anti-Cheat controls, and displays a history of Valve Anti-Chat activity in your game.
Does this affect the quality or accuracy of Denuvo’s cheat detection?
No, enabling the Steamworks integration is optional and does not affect cheat detection. However, actively using Valve Anti-Cheat’s Game Ban feature might discourage players from cheating.
